MOM'S BEEF STEW

The wonderful 

wafting 

smell of beef stew

reaches my nose

in a dance

of scent

the waltzing

potatoes and carrots 

come first

then

the tangoing

beef and bay leaf

next

the contra dancing

sage

thyme

and miso

fill up my nose

yet this is 

nothing

compared to the taste

the stew

over whelms

every inch of my tastebuds

in a river of rich taste

after the first swallow

the potatoes and carrots

start spinning with flavor

the beef and bay leaf

rapidly

speed up

their tango

the contra dancing

sage

thyme

and miso

quicken their pace

their imaginary

feet

beating upon my tongue
