Oak

It's roots 

intertwined and stretched

into the sweet, moist soil

The splendor of it's outstretched branches

thick and strong

It's gnarled bark 

as welcome beneath my palm

as an old friend

It's leaves

a deep-green silver

like the brook 

running beside it's roots
